Course Overview

The NPORS 180 Excavator (Face Shovel) Training course covers the operation of forward-facing excavators widely used in road construction, drainage installation, and utility trench work. Unlike the 360° excavator, the 180° machine cannot rotate fully — requiring specific skills for positioning and safe operation in confined workspaces.

What You'll Learn

  • 180-degree machine controls and characteristics
  • Safe positioning and working arcs
  • Trenching and drainage excavation techniques
  • Working near underground services
  • Ground conditions and stability assessment
  • PUWER and LOLER compliance
